Mei Sarson – Fashion Designer and Dressmaker

Mei was born in Hong Kong in 1959 and moved with her family to England at the age of two. Settling in to a rural life in Taunton, Somerset, she attended St Augustine’s School, and then studied further at Taunton College of Art and Technology with the aim of pursuing a career in fashion design. Her application to St Martin’s School of Art in London was successful and she graduated with a BA in Fashion Design in 1980.

Since then she has been a successful freelance fashion designer. She spent some time in the Jean Muir work shop, and was a supplier to House of Fraser in Reading. She has recently created an exclusive Bridal collection for Jennie’s Bridal Wear in Thatcham, Berkshire.

Mei’s passion and skill lies in the entire process of fashion design: taking an idea, designing it on to paper and translating that into a beautiful garment. She is highly skilled in haute couture and her designs flow off the page and into material. She works by personal appointment only, working closely with the client to create a piece that is unique, whether it is a bridal gown, bridesmaid dress or occasional wear.

During the past 7 years Mei has been working for Perfection Bridal in Reading ensuring the dresses fit to perfection. Mei is currently producing custom made garments as well as providing a tailoring service for bridal and occasional wear through to every day tailoring needs.
